Josh Dallas: Ginnifer Goodwin Is the ‘Greatest Mother That I Know’

April 28

People.com shared this cute article where Josh talks about what a great mother Ginny is and about their son Oliver.

Parenthood has been a fairy tale for Once Upon a Time star Josh Dallas, and the first-time father knows that much of that is due to his wife and costar, Ginnifer Goodwin.

“It’s extraordinary because she is, literally, the greatest mother that I know,” the actor told PEOPLE while attending The John Varvatos 12th Annual Stuart House Benefit in West Hollywood on Sunday.

“It’s extraordinary to have your partner, who you’ve known all this time, blossom into this woman … who is so nurturing, so caring and just so cool. She’s so cool and she’s a cool mom. It’s great.”

Not to say that their 11-month-old son Oliver Finlay isn’t holding his own as well in the eyes of the proud papa.

“Every day is a milestone, like pulling himself up, walking around, holding onto things,” Dallas says, beaming. “He can climb up the stairs like a ninja. It’s just every day there’s something that’s a milestone that amazes you. Like holding his own bottle — that amazes you as a parent.”

And while fatherhood has the 33-year-old reveling in the simplest things in life, there is one well-recognized lament of the new parent.

“Sleep is elusive,” he admits with a chuckle. “Sleep is a slippery devil. I can’t seem to ever catch it.”

But somehow even sleep deprivation has the actor falling even deeper under the spell of his son. “[Fatherhood] changed a lot,” Dallas says. “And it’s changed because you don’t think about yourself anymore. There’s somebody else that you have to take care of. He’s the greatest person I know, my little dude, so it’s a pleasure to do that.”

Thankfully, for both Dallas and Goodwin, who celebrated their first wedding anniversary earlier this month, most fairy tales feature a fairy godmother, or — in this case — two.

“We have help,” Dallas happily admits. “We have our mothers, [and they] come up and it’s the greatest thing in the world. They’re our nannies, but they’re our son’s grandmothers. They get to spend a lot of time together, so we’re blessed.”

And all that time with Grandma seems to be working in Oliver’s favor.

“Listen, my son is going to be able to get away with anything with his grandmother,” Dallas jokes.

Josh Dallas Talks Snow and Charming’s Secret

March 8

Variety gives us a sneak peek of tonight’s episode of Once Upon a Time and talks with Josh Dallas about the secret that Snow & Charming are hiding.

In “Once Upon a Time’s” midseason return, we learned that Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) have history with Cruella (Victoria Smurfit) and Ursula (Merrin Dungey) from their days in the Enchanted Forest, leading Storybrooke’s golden couple to share a midnight rendezvous with the dastardly duo in the closing minutes of “Darkness on the Edge of Town.” Snow warned the pair that if they told anyone about what happened between the four of them pre-curse, she’d “rip out their hearts” herself — not a particularly heroic declaration.

To preview the March 8 episode, “Unforgiven,” Variety spoke to Dallas about the secret that Snow and Charming are harboring — especially from daughter Emma (Jennifer Morrison). “In this Sunday’s episode, we see what the terrible, very dark secret that they’re hiding is, [for] Emma’s benefit,” he previewed. “They don’t want Emma to know because it goes way back, before Emma was even born. And the consequences of [that secret] affect Emma’s life in totality, so it’s huge. It’s a big deal.”

As executive producer Eddy Kitsis previewed before the show returned from hiatus, “One of the big themes for the second half of the season that we want to deal with is, ‘What makes someone a hero and what makes someone a villain?’” Dallas reiterated that point, posing the question, “If you are a villain or you do something very bad, can you ever recover from it? Can you recover and become good again? That’s the question we’re gonna ask. We’re gonna see Snow and Charming’s relationships with the Trio of Darkness — Cruella, Ursula and Maleficent [Kristin Bauer van Straten] — and we’re gonna see what goes down.”

While Dallas admitted that he hasn’t been keeping up with social media’s reaction to last week’s bombshell — “I’ve been missing in action from Twitter because I’ve been busy changing diapers,” he laughed — he suspected that fans probably had plenty of guesses for what Snow and Charming were keeping hidden… and that the truth might cause viewers to change their perspective on the seemingly perfect couple. “I think it’s gonna make people look at them differently and reevaluate what they thought of them all this time. But let’s see if they can hopefully redeem themselves by the end, who knows?” he teased. “The audience can be the judge.”

“Once Upon a Time” has become known for its plot twists, and Dallas said he was “totally shocked” when he discovered what his character’s secret actually was: “It’s in the ‘Once Upon a Time’ realm to take these characters and constantly be changing them. In our universe, no one is 100 percent good and no one is 100 percent evil, so it’s just another facet to these characters, which I love; which is one of the great things about playing [them]. They’re evolving and it’s always character-driven, and that’s an exciting thing.”

As Snow’s threat in last week’s episode proved, the Charmings are prepared to go to great lengths to keep their past hidden. “This is a secret that they’ve been holding for a long time… and it’s coming to the surface now,” Dallas noted. “That’s going to force them to make some decisions, and whether those decisions are right or wrong, you’re gonna have to keep watching.”

Josh Dallas Talks to DaMan about working with Ginnifer

October 31

Josh Dallas Talks to DaMan about working with Ginnifer on their show Once Upon a Time and how be coming a father has affected him.

DA: Earlier this year you married your co-star and onscreen love interest Ginnifer Goodwin who plays Snow White. Firstly, congratulations! Secondly, what’s it like going to work with your wife every day?
JD: Thank you. It’s great because we have real trust in one another. There’s absolutely no fear between us when shooting a scene, which makes for a better performance in my unbiased opinion. [Laughs]

DA: How has becoming a parent changed your life?
JD: It makes you open your eyes to the world again. Your child is seeing and experiencing things for the first time, so you can relive things through their eyes.

ONCE Stars Ginny Goodwin & Josh Dallas Talk Babies, Frozen & Season 4

October 11

Screenspy spoke with Ginnifer & Josh about the new season of once and about being first time parents.

According to Once Upon a Time star Josh Dallas, making David a Dad has done wonders for his character’s “huge heart.”

The new real life Dad speaks about how becoming a father has helped David be the parent he didn’t get to be with Emma. “It’s huge,” the Once star reveals in a new video interview, courtesy of our friends at ABC.

“Prince Charming needs a life that is worthy, I think,” says Dallas. “He needs a battle. He needs a quest. He needs a maiden to rescue. He needs a baby. A baby is something that can fill his huge heart.”

Meanwhile, Ginny Goodwin previews that obstacles lie ahead for new mother Mary Margaret, who will step into Regina’s (Lana Parrilla) shoes this week as she attempts to rise to the challenges of being Mayor of Storybrooke.

Not only is Mary Margaret “struggling a lot with letting go of her son,” but she now faces additional responsibility issues for the town.

“Mary Margaret is at first loath to take over these responsibilities, but then finds she may actually have a knack for it and incorporates some of her mothering skills,” the actress hints of Sunday’s episode.

Catch Josh Dallas’ and Ginnifer Goodwin’s full interview below.

Once Upon a Time’s “Rocky Road” airs Sunday 8/7c on ABC.

Ginnifer Goodwin calls her husband Josh Dallas ‘My Knight In Shining Armor’

September 23

(LOS ANGELES) — Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas have had a busy few months!

After welcoming their son, Oliver, neither of the Once Upon a Time stars have gotten much rest.

“He also has not slept since mid-May. I’m always telling him, ‘You can sleep,’ but he won’t, he always helps,” Goodwin told Us Weekly. “He’s my knight in shining armor.”

Goodwin, 36, and Dallas, 32, met on the set of the ABC series and were married this past April.

Now back to work, the actress said they bring the baby with them.

“He has a trailer. It is a Star Wars trailer and it is on the lot and he comes with us every day because I have to see him every couple hours,” she told E! “We are in a very, very fortuitous position that we can bring our kid to work.”

Just don’t expect him to make a cameo.

“Absolutely not,” she said, when asked if the baby will follow in his parents’ footsteps. “We are going to gently nudge him in any direction but acting!”

Josh, 32, and his pregnant wife, 35, had “a mountain of gifts” to open following a recent baby shower, telling E! News, “We’re very lucky!”

Ginnifer Goodwin’s Monique Lhuillier Wedding Gown: See the Sketch!

April 18

I have been anxiously awaiting a pic so we could see how beautiful Ginnifer was in her wedding gown … here is a glimpse of the designer’s sketch of the dress.

Ginnifer Goodwin and her new husband Josh Dallas know a little something about fairy tales from their costarring roles on Once Upon a Time — so it stands to reason that the actress looked just like a princess on their wedding day.

Goodwin, 35, and Dallas, 32, tied the knot in a small ceremony in Calif. Saturday (though they’ve yet to go on their honeymoon, as they’re expecting their first child together soon). And we have a look at the star’s beautiful Monique Lhuillier wedding dress sketch.

“Ginnifer’s gown was created by draping silk white tulle over a delicate layer of floral Chantilly lace,” says Lhuillier, who told WWD, “Ginny and I have been good friends for years. When I heard she was engaged, I was over the moon happy for her and Josh. We had the best time at our fittings.” Goodwin wore the romantic draped dress (which had a sccop neck, long sleeves and a beautiful open back) with a matching veil.
