The Hollywood Reporter did a article highlighting Ginnifer’s makeup from last night’s MET Gala Ball! Here is the part talking about Ginnifer’s makeup.
Both actresses laid the eye makeup on thick for the Met Gala on Monday night — and their respective makeup artists dish on how to get the look next time you happen to be heading to a punk party, too.
There were plenty of on point punk influences seen at the Met Gala on Monday night (Sienna Miller’s studded Burberry jacket and Miley Cyrus’ spiked hair, just to name two), but no one’s makeup stood out as perfectly punk as Once Upon A Time actress Ginnifer Goodwin’s dark and dramatic look.
Goodwin’s makeup artist Mai Quynh tells THR that she was inspired specifically by Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxie and the Banshees and the singer’s angular eyebrows and heavily lined lids.
“Ginny wanted to play up her eyes and make them the main focus by keeping them edgy while staying with the punk theme.” Says Quynh, who used all Laura Mercier makeup on Goodwin’s face.
Quynh started with the eyes, so any black shadow that fell wouldn’t compromise the foundation or blush, and then applied eye shadow in Noir and Black Ice as the main colors on the actress’ eyelids.
“I blended both colors all the way up to her brows and brought the shadow out into a wide cat eye.” She says. “I then lined the inner rim of her eyes with Black Violet eye pencil.”
As all of the focus was on the eye area, Quynh kept the rest of the face clean and simple applying Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer in Nude to the skin and layers of Cream Blush in Oleander, followed by a dusting of Powder Blush in Lotus Pink.
The soft pink shades were a welcome contrast to the dramatic eyes and were finished off by Goodwin’s pale pout. On the lips, Quynh used a shade with a very un-punk name, a barely there blush hue called Angelica.
