Met Gala 2013: Ginnifer Goodwin and Elizabeth Banks’ Dark, Heavy Eyes

Posted by Ali in May 07,2013 with No Comments

The Hollywood Reporter did a article highlighting Ginnifer’s makeup from last night’s MET Gala Ball! Here is the part talking about Ginnifer’s makeup.

Both actresses laid the eye makeup on thick for the Met Gala on Monday night — and their respective makeup artists dish on how to get the look next time you happen to be heading to a punk party, too.

There were plenty of on point punk influences seen at the Met Gala on Monday night (Sienna Miller’s studded Burberry jacket and Miley Cyrus’ spiked hair, just to name two), but no one’s makeup stood out as perfectly punk as Once Upon A Time actress Ginnifer Goodwin’s dark and dramatic look.

Goodwin’s makeup artist Mai Quynh tells THR that she was inspired specifically by Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxie and the Banshees and the singer’s angular eyebrows and heavily lined lids.

“Ginny wanted to play up her eyes and make them the main focus by keeping them edgy while staying with the punk theme.” Says Quynh, who used all Laura Mercier makeup on Goodwin’s face.

Quynh started with the eyes, so any black shadow that fell wouldn’t compromise the foundation or blush, and then applied eye shadow in Noir and Black Ice as the main colors on the actress’ eyelids.

“I blended both colors all the way up to her brows and brought the shadow out into a wide cat eye.” She says. “I then lined the inner rim of her eyes with Black Violet eye pencil.”

As all of the focus was on the eye area, Quynh kept the rest of the face clean and simple applying Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer in Nude to the skin and layers of Cream Blush in Oleander, followed by a dusting of Powder Blush in Lotus Pink.

The soft pink shades were a welcome contrast to the dramatic eyes and were finished off by Goodwin’s pale pout. On the lips, Quynh used a shade with a very un-punk name, a barely there blush hue called Angelica.

Ginnifer Goodwin’s Feel-Good Beauty Routine

Posted by Ali in May 02,2013 with No Comments

WhoWhatWhere did a run down of Ginny’s beauty routine! Here are some of her favorite products!

Before Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams, and Charlize Theron chopped off their locks, there was Ginnifer Goodwin; The Once Upon A Time actress has been rocking a pixie cut since 2009. Not surprisingly, the closely cropped hair informs her daily beauty routine. “I do have to wear a bit more makeup,” Goodwin says. “I think it makes the androgynous look a bit more feminine. That’s why the cat eye became a permanent fixture–because my eyes need to pop!”

Goodwin uses Clinique’s Brush-On Cream Liner in True Black, drawing dashes across the lash line and connecting them with an angled brush to form a straight line.

Goodwin’s skin deserves the ultimate adjective: porcelain. “I’ve always been very lucky,” she says, almost apologetically, after admitting that she only washes her face in the shower each morning. So yes, she sleeps with her makeup on: “I recognize that’s not best, but it’s ok for me.” For cleanser, she rotates between Sonya Dakar’s Sensi Wash and coconut oil, like Spectrum Essentials’ Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil .

“I alternate between Chanel No. 5 which smells like my grandmother, and Quelques Fleurs, which smells like one of my best friends,” Goodwin says. “I have an emotional response to physical smells.” The latter, she says, reminds her of home.

Goodwin discovered one of her favorite products on the set of Big Love. “Chloe Sevigny introduced to me to Dr. Bronner’s and it’s been my go-to for years,” she says.

Ginnifer Goodwin’s 3 Rules to Making Short Hair Work

Posted by Ali in Mar 19,2013 with No Comments

E!Online did this great article where Ginnifer shares her rules to making short hair work … I plan to test this out since I also have a pixie cut!

When it comes to working short hair, Ginnifer Goodwin is literally a cut above the rest.

The Once Upon a Time star has consistently wowed celeb watchers and fashionistas with her über-stylish pixie ‘do, which easily goes from gamine gracefulness to punky insouciance with the flip of a brush..

Turns out, getting her look may not seem a tricky as one might think. Here, she shares with us her basics on keeping things both short and sweet.

1. Embrace That Bedhead: The star readily acknowledges the perils of early morning short hair, recently telling us at a Listerine event in NYC, “It will be more fierce than any bedhead you’ve ever experienced as a long-haired person.” So, she’s made her peace with it. “I’ve had to [rock beadhead] because sometimes it’s just going to go in the direction it’s going to go in.” So there.

2. Get a Straightening Iron: “I have very curly hair,” the 34-year-old concedes, which makes this beauty accessory quite the handy tool to the star. “I like a little wave, but not much. I’m am really keen on my straightening iron.”

3. Scruff It Up: “Don’t be afraid of a little dirt,” the star offers, saying that sometimes, it’s OK to keep things rough around the edges.

“I wanted to do something fun and colorful with Ginnifer’s makeup, because of her sparkly cobalt blue dress, so we played up the eyes in a way that wasn’t too matchy. She loves focusing on the eyes, so everyone was happy,” said Quynh.

Ginnifer Goodwin’s Style Motto: ‘I Believe in Falling on My Face & Getting Back Up Again’

Posted by Ali in Feb 07,2013 with No Comments

Ginnifer speaks with about her style and how to her clothes are a form of personal expression.

Ginnifer Goodwin loves to keep her red carpet looks interesting, and the actress couldn’t care less if she ends up on a ‘worst dressed’ list — all that matters to her is that she took a risk.

“I believe in falling on my face, getting back up and trying again,” Goodwin told PEOPLE at the Listerine 21 Day Challenge in N.Y.C. on Tuesday. “Clothes are a form of personal expression.”

And with that expression comes “countless” red carpet regrets — so many in fact that she couldn’t name just one. “Usually I work with stylists, and that’s usually a very good idea,” she said. “[Then] sometimes I’ll go, ‘I can do this myself!’ And I’ll wear something horrendous and be like, ‘Ah, what did I do?’”

Though we’re big fans of the star’s favored bold, colorful dresses, we might be seeing less of them in her red carpet future. “I know that I want to change [my style] up, but I don’t know what that means exactly yet,” she said. “I’m 34 — about to be 35 — and I feel my maturity in some ways, so it’s time that my wardrobe evolves [with me].”

While you wait to see where Goodwin takes her fashion next, you can join the star on the Listerine 21 Day Challenge and “swish” for a good cause: For every person who signs up, Listerine will donate to the Smiles Across America program, which provides oral health care to children in need. Ginnifer Goodwin’s Style Really is as Good as It Gets

Posted by Ali in Nov 25,2012 with No Comments

The Fashion Spot did a great article on Ginnifer’s style …

The Once Upon a Time actress has always been a fashion risk-taker. Ginnifer Goodwin’s risky behavior usually pays off with the star routinely stunning on and off the red carpet. That’s not to say she doesn’t have her go-to designers like Monique Lhuillier, Preen, and Jonathan Saunders or her off-key moments, but Ginnifer seems to have an uncanny eye for the unique along with a real knack for styling.

Take the gorgeous Gucci creation she wore to the LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala just last month. Sure the event was sponsored by the fashion house, but Ginnifer still managed to pick one of the more spectacular Fall 2012 pieces complete with semi-sheer blouse and green feathered skirt. The star also stood out at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards in late September. Her orange floral embroidered Monique Lhuillier Resort 2013 gown was expertly styled with both Rona Pfeiffer and Graziela jewels along with a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch and coordinating Christian Louboutin Bis Un Bout pumps.

Ginnifer has a long history of impressing on the red carpet. She attended the Children Awaiting Parents event in February 2011 in West Hollywood decked out in a sparkling Monique Lhuillier dress and graphic red Raphael Young Habaki wedges. Topshop Unique was the surprising source of Ginnifer’s green silk twist front long sleeve gown with cut-out details at the 2011 Met Gala. A statement necklace, a navy Kotur clutch, and Aperlai Karine sandals wrapped up the unexpected look.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Something Borrowed the very next day, Ginnifer somehow made a bandage dress look fashion-forward. Her Hervé Léger by Max Azria Fall 2011 houndstooth creation was teamed with a golden Kotur clutch and Camilla Skovgaard sandals. This perfectly pink Roksanda Ilincic Spring 2012 Margot lantern sleeve dress was her bold choice for the People’s Choice Awards 2012 in January. Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, a Kzeniya black envelope clutch, and Jimmy Choo Kyrle ankle boots all served as accessories.

Jonathan Saunders was behind the Pre-Fall 2012 mustard-colored silk gazar dress Ginnifer sported for the PaleyFest 2012 celebration of Once Upon a Time in March. A gold belt, Bulgari gems, and Giuseppe Zanotti cork pumps completed the look. When it came time for this year’s Met Gala, Ginnifer once again made an impact in Monique Lhuillier. Her Fall 2012 tangerine silk chiffon cap sleeve gown included an elaborately embroidered neckline and was complemented by H. Stern jewels as well as silver Brian Atwood pumps.

It was another Monique Lhuillier for the Young Hollywood Awards in June. Her delicate white lace Resort 2013 dress was accented with a black Edie Parker clutch and spiked Christian Louboutin heels. Ginnifer was certainly a lady in red a month later at Entertainment Weekly’s 6th Annual Comic-Con Celebration in San Diego thanks to this scalloped Valentino Fall 2012 dress. A pair of matching Christian Louboutin pointed-toe spiked pumps rounded out the look.

Ginnifer is definitely a true style star.
